PNWDTA

PACIFIC NORTH WEST DRILL TEAM ASSOCIATION
Meeting Minutes
March 18, 2000

The meeting was called to order at noon by Gail Williams with approximately 25 people in attendance.  It was decided to dispense with the reading of the February meeting minutes since they had been posted on the web site.
Gail reported that there was $355.00 in the PNWDTA checking account.  The no-fee checking account was set up at Washington Mutual.  Gail further reported there were  currently 4 team and 2 individual paid memberships, and a membership pending of a Montana team.  Carla Valentine paid membership dues for the CC Riders Drill Team, bringing the total team memberships to five.  Additional individual memberships were paid by Sherry Hunter and Gail Culver bringing the total of individual members to four.

There was discussion on several facilities to be considered for the First Annual PNWDTA Competition.  These included:  Goldendale, WA., The Dalles, OR. Rodeo Grounds and Saddle Club and McMinneville, Oregon.  After further discussion of the dates and conflicting events taking place it was moved and seconded by Carla Valentine and Maria Haaby respectively, to hold our event at the Goldendale, Washington facility.  Motion passed unanimously.   The Goldendale facility is available for the weekend of July 22-23, 2000 and at a cost of $250.00 per day for the arena use.  Gail reported that this facility has a very nice large outdoor arena with stabling and camping.
It was further agreed upon by the members present that the following events will make up the competition:  Freestyle, Short Program, Open, Impromptu and Teams of Four.   There was some discussion regarding Rodeo Flag Teams but no decision was reached.  The "Open" event may be entered by non-member teams at an additional fee to be determined at a later date.  This yet undetermined amount required of non-member teams over the usual $50.00 entry fee will be applied to their PNWDTA Membership should they decide to join the organization.
After some discussion on the insurance requirements for holding the competition it was decided that Western Express will act as the hosting team for the event so the insurance requirements could be met by their policy.

The following  individuals were nominated and elected to serve as PNWDTA officers for the year 2000-2001:
 President:  Ken McLaws, Desparados
Vice President:  Troy Valentine, CC Riders
 Secretary:  Jan Schuchman, Western Express
 Treasurer:  Darla Myers, Desparados
 Oregon Teams Representative:  Maria Haaby
 Oregon Individual Representative:  Deanna Salisbury
 Washington Teams Representative:  Gail Williams
 Washington Individual Representative:  Verna Dunar

There was concern expressed by some members present that promotional information about PNWDTA was not reaching all that might be interested in joining the organization.
Sherry Hunter will include details regarding PNWDTA in the Oregon State information she distributes.  Maria Haaby and other members will also be distributing PNWDTA flyers at events they attend.  Verna will continue to maintain the web site and see that it is submitted to search engines and further promoted on the Internet.

Gail Williams will continue to pursue information on attaining non-profit status for PNWDTA.
There was some discussion of Premium Lists for our upcoming competition but no decisions were made.

The next meeting will be held at the Fairgrounds in Yakima, Washington on Sunday, April 30.  A meeting time will be decided on later.
Meeting adjourned at 1:04 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted
Verna Dunar
