Meeting Minutes November 18, 2001

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Troy Valentine, November 17, Oregon.

Roll:  Teams present; C.C. Riders, R Troop, Cascade Cowgirls, Sundancers, Desperados, Latigo & Lace, R.C. Riders, Class Action and Western Express.

Minutes were read and approved with the addition@ (added to roll) R Troop, (vote on lmpromtu- 140 total pts) R troop-2 yes. Correction: Diane Thomas, Deanna Salisbury and Sherry Hunter volunteered to work on a grievance committee and present a proposal at the next meeting.

Treasurer's report was read by the secretary due to treasurer's absence, the current balance is $2524.64, Diane Thomas made the motion, seconded by Cheryl Slaydon, treasurers report be approved as presented, motion passed.              

Question: What teams are eligible to vote and what is Sherry Hunter's membership status is at the present? "2001" paid member teams: CC Riders, Class Action, Cascade Cowgirls, Desperados, R Troop, R.C. Riders, Sundancers, Sunsation and Western Express. Dues were not received from Sherry Hunter for 2001 membership.'

Old business; Grievance committee, Diane Thomas reported on the different organization's methods of handling grievances. OHA employs a show steward, WLRCA - a written grievance is presented to the Board of Officers. OSET has a representative from each team on a committee, grievance issues are settled before the next event. After discussion and many suggestions a motion, seconded and passed that PNWDTA will address grievances presented to a committee made up of two members from each team.

It recommended that the judges be required to remain after the conclusion of the show for a half hour to an hour at which time questions may be asked and at this time they will be given their checks.

UPDATE: There will be a five hundred dollar charge for the large outdoor arena at Appleatchee Riders Arena. Paula Gearhart made the motion, seconded by Kay George to pay the five hundred for the extra arena motion passed. Secretary was given authority to siqn the contract for the Appleatchee facilities for $5500.00 for the weekend of June 29 and 30, 2002.

Judge's fee were discussed resulting with a motion made by Karla Valentine seconded by Deanna Salisbury that the fee be $150 per day, the total being,$300.00 for the weekend, instead of the past fee of $200.00 for the weekend. Motion passed.

Gail Williams was requested to e-mail the Trac for possible 2003 available competition dates.

NOTE: Judges Clinic is to update the judge's lists, hopefully new judges will be used on some of the one-day show so we have a larger list of names to choose from.
Next item of business was the vote for president; Troy Valentine was voted to be the next the next President.
Nominations for Vice President were Cheryl Slaydon, nominations closed. A unanimous vote elected Cheryl as the next Vice President

After a short break; state representatives were announced to be Wn.-Gail Williams, Deanna Salisbury, Oregon Individual representative-Sherry Hunter

New Business:
 
Diane Thomas suggested a promotional folder be put together and sent to as many teams as possible--such as a tri-fold.  Maria Haaby, Darla Myers and Gail Williams volunteered to work on this project.

Latigo & Lace showed the group a hand towel that they have used as awards and suggested these as possible awards-cost approximately $4.00 .

A Novice Division was discussed resulting in the opinion entries will determine if there is enough teams entered for this to be held.

Possible judges for "2002" competition are: Gail Culver, Jewel Black, Karen Bragg-Pursley, Susan Willis, Rod Peterson, Etta Keller and Diane VanOrman. Troy will contact these individuals and report which are available.

W.L.R.C.A judges are: Gail Williams, Sherry Hunter and Cindy Willard known at this time are Mickey Loftgren and Marsha Fritzie, O.W.D.T.A judges

Order of Draw was discussed, it was decided the teams will draw for performance number order, practice will be the same order except the first practice will be on a sign-up basis due to teams traveling times.

Diane Thomas graciously volunteered to help with the score sheets, plus her computer and Scoring program. THANK YOU DIANE.

Suggestion was made that P.N.W.D.T.A  pay the sanction fee for the state competitions, after discussion, a motion was made by Jan S. seconded by Deanna Salisbury, that the sanction fee be paid to WLRCA-$15, O.H.A.-$35, O.W.D.T.A-$15. Motion passed.

A HI-POINT series for P.N.W.D.T.A was suggested and will be taken under advisement for the future.

Deanna Salisbury made the motion, seconded by C. Montgomery a Hi-Point flag be made for the "2002" competition , motion passed. The secretary is to contact the person necessary to have this flag made.

Next meeting is to be March 23, 2002 at Trails in Olympia, Wn. at 12:00 - noon. meeting is tentatively set for May l8, in Wenatchee, Wn.

The meeting was adjourned by the president.
